The development of road infrastructure in Western Romania has reached an important milestone: the winner has been announced for the tender to carry out the second section (Jebel–Moravița) of the Temesvár–Moravița (A9) expressway. The company Porr Construct SRL has been awarded a contract worth approximately 2.97 billion lei (excluding VAT) and a total deadline of 48 months for the design and construction of the 33.49-kilometer motorway segment.
Out of this period, one year can be allocated for the design phase, while the remaining three years will be used for construction. According to the provisions of the contract signed under the EU-funded Transport Programme, several major structures will be built along the route. These include a 560-meter-long bridge over the CF124 railway line and the DN58B national road, two traffic junctions (in the areas of Voiteg and Moravița), as well as two modern rest areas and two short-term parking lots. In addition, a maintenance and control center will also be established near Moravița. As part of the contract, it is also mandatory to build the infrastructure that will allow for the installation of at least six fast charging stations for electric vehicles at each of the service units and parking areas constructed along the expressway.
