The construction permit for another section of the Union Motorway was signed on Monday, allowing Ciprian Șerban, the Minister of Transport and Infrastructure, to officially start the works. The expressway that will connect Moldova with Transylvania has taken a step closer to becoming a reality—this development has long been a cherished dream for drivers in Romania. “We have taken a significant step forward towards an infrastructure investment awaited by many,” the minister said.
We have given the green light for the construction of a new section of the A8 motorway. Today, we signed the execution permit for the motorway section between Târgu Mureș and Târgu Neamț—more precisely, for the Târgu Mureș – Miercurea Nirajului stretch, as well as the connecting road leading to the A3 motorway, covering twenty-two kilometers in total. This permit is crucial—without it, the works could not have begun,” the minister stated on his social media page. Under the project, 22 kilometers of new motorway will be built, along with an additional 2.4-kilometer access road. The development will take place alongside six localities in Mureș County. The total value of the construction exceeds 760 million lei, with completion planned within a 17-month execution period.
