Road construction works on the M6 motorway

July 10, 2025

Construction works on the A6 motorway: relocation of the work site In the coming years, comprehensive renovation will be carried out on the A6 motorway section between Thun-Süd and Spiez, specifically the section between Thun-Süd and Gesigen will be modernized in 2024 and 2025. Recently, the renovation of the side leading towards Thun has been completed. Now, in the coming weeks, the work site and traffic management will be reorganized so that restoration works can also start on the motorway side towards Spiez. During the reorganization, certain traffic restrictions should be expected. In addition, although not part of the same investment, further works will take place at the Steffisburg motorway junction and on the Interlaken section of the A8 motorway, roughly at the same time.

These may also cause temporary obstacles and closures. The following closures are expected: - For five consecutive nights from July 14 to 15, 2025, and from July 18 to 19, 2025 (each night from 8:00 p.m. to 4:30 a.m.), the overtaking lane will be closed in both directions between the Thun-Süd interchange and Lattigen junction. - On the nights of July 21 to 22, 2025 and July 22 to 23, 2025, again from 8:00 p.m. to 4:30 a.m., the entire route of the A6 will be closed between Thun-Süd and Spiez, with all traffic being diverted to the alternative cantonal road. Therefore, road users in the region are advised to check current road closures in advance and consider alternative routes in due time.
